Exploring Ideas, Insights, and Inspiration
International Children's Day is a time to celebrate the joy, wonder, and potential of young children around the world. As Nigerians join in this global observance, I call on the federal and state governments to prioritize the wellbeing of the country's children.
"Happy International Children's Day to all our children worldwide. As we join them to celebrate today in Nigeria, I urge the federal and state governments to implement policies that will be of benefit to our children.
Chief among these, is the full implementation of the Child's Rights Act, which enshrines protections and provisions for education, healthcare, security, and the overall welfare of Nigerian children. The child's right act, education, healthcare, security, and the general well-being of an average Nigerian child should be the priority of our government.
Far too often, the dreams and aspirations of Nigerian children have been corroded by systemic barriers and inequities. I dream of a better Nigeria ; one where "an average Nigerian child can achieve their dream without passing through the stress of 'who you know but what you know.'" A nation where "the children of a nobody would become somebody without the help of anybody."
Underlying this vision is a call for purposeful, people-oriented leadership that puts the needs of Nigeria's young generation first. I wish them a Nigeria where leadership will be most purposeful and people-oriented,
As the celebrations of International Children's Day echo across Nigeria, my message carries a sense of urgency and hope. Congratulations to Nigeria children. Congratulations to our future. Congratulations to a better Nigeria.
The time is now for the federal and state governments to heed this call, redoubling efforts to secure the rights, dreams, and wellbeing of Nigeria's children. For in their hands lies the promise of a brighter tomorrow for Africa's most populous nation.
God bless our children.
